This course is a study of Hermeneutics and what are the basic and fundamental characteristics in studying the Bible. The Inductive method will be taught and studied in detail through various Biblical texts. An approach to Bible study which first observes the text to be studied, interprets those observations, and then applies the truths learned to one’s life and to others.

Bible study has a two-fold purpose:
1. To understand what was written and why and
2. To apply this understanding to our daily walk with the Lord.

The process of application bridges the gap between the world of Bible times and our world of today.

The actual process that leads to bridging this gap can be conceived as a four-step process:
1. Determining the truths taught in a passage of Scripture
2. Formulating a statement of application
3. Relating the application to your life
4. Practicing the application.

How to Become Wise

Proverbs 1:1-7 - To become wise one should start with gaining the fear of God, which is the beginning of knowledge. Wisdom is not just making sensible decisions and having good advice. It is first about having a righteous life before God. Such a righteous life can only begin with recognizing God’s greatness and knowing Him (i.e. the fear of God).

How to Know God’s Will, part 3

Has God revealed His will? How can we be sure our actions are pleasing to Him? For example, whom should I marry? Where should I study? What should I wear? How do I know God’s will in every step of my life? Sometimes His will is not that clear. It is not in heaven nor is it in the sea (Deut. 30:11-14). God does not hide His will from us, but sometimes we have to work hard to know what it is.
These sermons are about His will. How can one know God’s will? First, we’ll look at the misunderstandings in this area, and then we’ll talk about the most important things in relation to His will.
In this last sermon, Pastor Leonid Mikhovich looks at how the Bible reveals God’s will. Much of God’s will is to follow what He has clearly revealed through His word.

How do we Remain Faithful to God in Trials

Heb. 12:1-2 - We remain faithful to God and persevere in our faith through trials by fixing our eyes on Jesus and the heroes of faith who have gone before us. To remain faithful,

1. We should remember the example set by the heroes of faith,
2. We should throw off the sin that so easily entangles us, and
3. We should keep our eyes fixed on Christ.
